Common questions from parents

What is 'heuristic thinking', and why start it at preschool?

Heuristics are problem-solving strategies — drawing a picture, working step by step, spotting a pattern. Introducing them early matters because Singapore Primary maths is built around problem sums, not bare sums. A child taught to reason from age 4, rather than only to memorise, finds P1 word problems familiar instead of frightening.

How does Next Level Enrichment build number sense?

Through hands-on materials, visual models and games rather than worksheets alone, so numbers mean something concrete before they become symbols. At the 1:3 ratio at Blk 709 Ang Mo Kio Ave 8, each child is assessed for genuine mastery before moving on — a child who has merely memorised the answer is easy to spot in a group of three, and impossible to spot in a class of twenty.
